Please Pray for MDI
Dear MDI Friends:
I want to thank you for praying for the team that we took to Ukraine and Poland in April. God did answer and did immeasurably more than all that we could have ever asked or imagined!!! The women’s conferences were times for the Ukrainian women to soak up the Word of God, enjoy fellowship with each other and with us. The women in Kiev relished being away from their daily responsibilities, out of the city, and in the woods. The women in L’viv came weary after long days of work but left refreshed. I believe that each woman did leave knowing, in a fresh, new way, how precious she is to God. We carried with us over 700 hand knit scarves that women in the USA had made as gifts to the Ukrainian women. They were beautiful and were received as great treasures of thoughtfulness and a connection to the women who made them. We gave a seminar for the Center for Leadership Development and also a small men’s conference in L’viv in which 19 of the 20 men attending were ex-convicts and a few had just been released from prison. We had a very sobering but Spirit-filled time in a prison hospital where we were able to pray and sing to prisoners with little hope. The team was a joy to be with as God united our hearts through the experience and especially through prayer. Thank you.
Steve and Marilyn Lorenz, and Gary and I, leave on Saturday, May 26, for Accra , Ghana in West Africa . We too need your prayer coverage. We are gone May 26-June 5, 2007. We are part of a team of 23, going with Today’s Choices ministry to celebrate the dedication of Sweetwater House in Ghana . I chaired the Today’s Choices Board for 5 years, and Steve was an advisor to the ministry. This is a dream and a hope that has come true! Sweetwater House is a home for 24 destitute young women where Jesus will breathe new life into them. They live in the home for 2 years receiving job training skills, life skills, and Biblical training. This is an ongoing ministry but the girls just moved into the home a year ago. The team is going to teach a “big girl” vacation Bible school, minister to the street children around the home, work on some business development for the ministry and celebrate God’s goodness and provision. We covet your prayers for our time in Ghana and for the team. Please pray that:
- We will be led by the Spirit in all that we do, every minute of every day
- We will look for the Lord’s hidden deep treasures and find Jesus in the midst of them no matter the circumstances
- God will equip us as we minister and that we can celebrate Him in the fullness of joy
We return to Ukraine in July 2007 and will write about that before we leave. We would like you to know that we have just had to substantially raise the salary of Sveta Boiko who works with us in Ukraine through the MDI Ministry Center there. This is a huge faith walk for us. If any of you are interested in financially supporting Sveta’s salary through MDI that would be wonderful. And Steve and I are always in need of increasing our support to cover our travel expenses. All this can be done through MDI which is a 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation. The address is: 204 Burnt Leaf Lane , Brentwood , TN 37027 .
Thank you for your friendship and support.
In His Grace,
Marti Scudder for MDI
